Electrical skills (car and light van)
Course Objectives:The trainee will be able to check the electrical system, together with associated equipment on the vehicle. On completion of the course he will be able to carry out procedures using special tools, test equipment and technical data as recommended by vehicle and engine manufacturers and diagnose and rectify typical vehicle electrical faults.

Who should attend?
The course is designed for the Diesel Fuel Injection Technician who will be responsible for diagnosing and rectifying faults on high-speed diesel engines fitted to cars and vans. This course will help those technicians who have limited electrical and electronics experience.


Course Content
The course is divided into the following subjects:

DAY 1 & 2

  • Layout of electrical and electronic systems, wiring diagrams, Ohm’s Law etc
  • Circuit/system tests using digital multi-meters.
  • Fault diagnosis and rectification of sensor/actuator/wiring defects
  • Use of Diagnostic equipment for on-vehicle fault-code reading/erasing.

DAY 3

  • Layout and principles of CAN (Controlled Area Network) Systems
  • Use of oscilloscope for fault finding
  • Rectification of typical faults


Each subject is covered individually and demonstrations are interactive with tests and practical exercises, this enables the instructor to monitor the trainee’s progress.
