Delphi truck racing championship final
November 2007 - The 2007 Delphi British Truck Racing Championship came to a dramatic conclusion at Brands Hatch on November 4th.

Despite a brave fight and win by Chris Levett in his Man TGA during the first Class A race of the weekend, Stuart Oliver’s second place and nine point haul followed by a win in the second Class A race was enough to grasp the championship title for the seventh time.

Garry George reigned supreme in Class B, after qualifying his Foden Alpha first on the grid, then scoring crushing victories in both Class B races to take the 2007 Class B title.

Oliver praised his supporters: “The atmosphere is amazing, it's fantastic to see the appreciation from the crowd. It makes all the difference when people stay after the race to help us celebrate. I want to thank all the spectators today, as well as my team, family and sponsors for their support this year.”

As well as Delphi’s direct involvement in the 2007 Championship, the network of specialist diesel workshops have also played an active role which will extend through into the 2008 season. Following Merlin Diesel’s sponsorship of a race at Thruxton in July, it is now supplying diesel fuel injection equipment to the UKT Racing truck driven by Elton Boocock. Colchester Fuel Injection, another Delphi Common Rail repair workshop, also became involved in the championship, sponsoring the final round at Brands Hatch and developing a links with the racing teams and their businesses.

With strong commitment to truck racing within the UK, Delphi has firmly established a beneficial partnership with the British Truck Racing Association and individual teams. It will be working closely with it’s network of repair specialists to ensure the trucks continue to deliver high levels of performance and spectator entertainment throughout next season.

Mike Rayne, vice president of Delphi Diesel Aftermarket says of the involvement: “The BTRA championship is not only an exciting and competitive spectacle for motorsport fans, it allows us to highlight our wide range of diesel system components, diagnostic tools and reinforce our reputation for diesel expertise.”
