DM0792 E1 EUI & C3i Common Rail Injector Test Plans DDRX121

ANNUAL LICENSING INTRODUCED FOR TEST PLAN SOFTWARE

1. INTRODUCTION

In 2007, Delphi introduced its new test plan software platform, IRIS. Initially launched for Common Rail injector testing on the CRi-PC test bench, Delphi has continued to develop IRIS and we are now pleased to announce the launch of two brand new test plan ranges: · E1 EUI test plans for Volvo applications for the AVM2PC· C3i Common Rail injector test plans for the CRi-PC

2. The Iris Test Plan Platform

Diesel injection technology continues to move forward apace with Common Rail and EUI constantly evolving. This is well demonstrated by the development in Delphi Common Rail injectors where there are already three distinct evolutions (C2i, C3i and piezo) even though it is only 8 years since launch. Every new evolution of fuel system brings with it more exacting requirements for testing and it is therefore essential that test plan software is developed in line with the technology.

Delphi’s IRIS test plan software has been designed with both current and future diesel injection technology in mind. It not only gives users immediate benefits by providing a more automated platform with reduced test times but also has the structure to cope with forthcoming diesel injection equipment.

3. E1 EUI TEST PLANS

The new IRIS CD for EUI (DDRX122) sees the first development of IRIS on the AVM2PC test bench. Included in this release is the initial batch of Volvo E1 test plans (BEBE4C00001, BEBE4C01001, BEBE4C00101 & BEBE4C01101). For full details of the Volvo E1 repair programme please refer to MI note DM0798.

The test plans for Volvo A-Series and Land Rover EUI (both previously available on OCRES) are also included on the DDRX122 CD. The migration of the OCRES EUI test plans onto IRIS will continue with Hyundai A-Series, Hyundai E1 & John Deere A-Series moving over to the new platform during the remainder of 2009. The updates containing this second batch of EUI test plans will be issued free-of-charge to all customers that purchase the DDRX122.

4. HARDWARE & SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS FOR EUI IRIS

It is essential that workshops have the correct hardware and software in order to successfully run EUI IRIS on the AVM2PC test bench. Full details are given on Hartridge Marketing note HMN69A but please see below for the main requirements:

**HK899 upgrade required to all HB388 kits purchased prior to July 2009.

PLEASE NOTE THAT EUI OCRES TEST PLANS WILL NOT OPERATE WITH THE UPGRADED AMPLIFIER AND LOAD CELL.

5. Common Rail Injector Update CD

The new Common Rail IRIS update CD (DDRX121) for the CRi-PC contains many new test plans along with new features and improvements to existing functions.

The main development is the inclusion of the complete range of Common Rail injectors with C3i coding. A full list of these injectors is shown below:

Further details of the C3i repair programme can be found on MI note DM0791 and Hartridge marketing note HMN77.

There is also one new C2i test plan on the new IRIS CD – for injector R05001D (JCB 4.4L).

Other new features included on DDRX121 are:

· Improved structure of the ‘Static Leak’ test

· Improved delivery readings

· Reduced time in processing test plans and results files

· Reduction in the impact of rail pressure fluctuations

· Increased generation rate for C2i and C3i codes

6. CRi-PC software requirements

In order to successfully run the latest version of IRIS, customers must have the following levels of Hartridge software:

Please refer to Hartridge Marketing note HMN77 for full details on software and hardware requirements.

7. ANNUAL LICENSE FEE

Delphi has previously sold each IRIS update on an individual basis. In other words, every new release of the software has been chargeable. We are now moving away from this method of payment and introducing an annual license fee.

This license fee will operate in exactly the same manner as our other software offerings, DIAMAND and Direct Evolution. Therefore customers will pay an annual fee that will entitle them to the latest CD and free software updates during the whole of the license year. Therefore customers will have the benefit of receiving all new test plans as soon as they are available at no additional cost.

The IRIS license period will operate from April 1st to March 31st each year with the first year ending on March 31st 2010. Therefore, customers purchasing the new IRIS CD’s will need to renew their licenses in April 2010.

During the remainder of 2009, the test plans for Common Rail pumps on the AVM2 test bench will migrate from OCRES to the IRIS platform. Common Rail injectors on AVM2 will follow in 2010. There will be separate IRIS license fees for each of these technologies. This will improve the security of the software and ensure that test plans are limited to those workshops that are authorised for each technology.

Further details of future IRIS development and licenses will be released in the coming months.

8. PRICING

As previously stated, IRIS will now be charged on an annual license basis with the period running from April 1st – March 31st.

  • DDRX121 IRIS LICENSE(CR Injector)
  • DDRX122 IRIS LICENSE (EUI)
