- I am interested in purchasing a Test bench. Who should I contact?
- Our test equipment partner, Hartridge, will be able to provide you with all the necessary information and costs. Their website address is www.hartridge.com
- Can I change my conventional diesel engine to a Common Rail system?
- Because common rail is a fully integrated system, it makes it difficult, and expensive, to change from a conventional diesel engine. Also, the engine enhancements would need to be officially tested to ensure they met with European emissions legislation.
- I currently have a set of non-Delphi Glow Plugs, which need replacing. Do you offer an equivalent?
- We have a range of All-Makes Glow Plugs available, covering all leading brands in the market place. Your Local Distributor will be able to advise you of the relevant Glow Plug.
- I would like to order one of your diesel components, who should I contact?
- Contact your Local Distributor, who will be able to advise on availability and price. To find your nearest Distributor, click on the Dealer Locator button.
- I would like to order one of your catalogues, who should I contact?
- If you have an account with Delphi Diesel then contact the Customer Services Department, or your Area Sales Manager. If you do not have a contact, you will be able to pick a catalogue up at your local Distributor. To find your nearest one, click on the Dealer Locator button.
- If I have a problem with my Delphi equipment whilst still within the warranty period, what should I do?
- Contact your local Distributor, who will diagnose the fault and determine whether it is within the warranty terms. If it is, the problem will be fixed free of charge. To find your nearest distributor, click through to the Dealer Locator area.
- I am interested in learning the basics of diesel repair. Do you have any courses which meet this requirement?
- Our Training Centre runs various diesel courses including a diesel technology overview. If you would be interested in attending, please contact Graham.Borley@delphi.com
- Why can I not enter the Login area of your site?
- The Login area provides important information relevant to our Diesel Network only. If you have any questions which you cannot find the answer to in our website, please contact your local distributor. To find your nearest one, click through to the Dealer Locator area.
- I am interested in becoming part of the Delphi Diesel network. Who should I contact to discuss further?
- We are always happy to welcome new workshops to our network. If you would like further details about the benefits of becoming a Delphi Distributor, please send an email to Chris.Davies@delphi.com and a representative will contact you.
- Does 'Delphi Diesel +' contain metals?
- No, the large majority of this type of product use metals such as barium, cerium, or iron. However modern additives should be ashless, and not contain any metals. Metals can cause harm to after treatment systems and the environment. 'Delphi Diesel +' contains a Cetane booster. This basically means that it decreases the ignition delay, giving a smoother combustion, reducing noise, emissions and white smoke. Also significantly improving cold start giving a smoother running diesel engine whilst the product is present in the fuel.
- Can I pass the emissions tests at the car inspection by using
- Most engines in the field producing an increased smoke or emissions level, are suffering from high deposit levels in the fuel system, pump, or injectors, causing the smoke or increased emissions. The most effective way of restoring the smoke or emissions level of dirty engines is cleaning those deposits. The 'Delphi Diesel +' product is a very effective deposit cleaner. Using the 'Delphi Diesel +' product on a regular basis and preferably one tank before going to the car inspection gives optimum performance. If a mechanical engine component failure is causing the increased smoke or emissions, the products will not help, and the defective component will have to be repaired or replaced.
- Does
- No, one of the tests in the extensive no-harm test program is the paint panel test where different car paints are exposed to the product for a long time. These tests have shown no harm to the car paint. Of course it is recommended to wipe the additive off the car with a cloth when spilled.
- Is 'Delphi Diesel +' classified as harmful?
- All modern fresh and used lubricants, fuels and also fuel additives contain substances that can be dangerous to the human body. Contact with any of those products should be avoided. Detailed information can be found on the Material Safety Data Sheets of the individual products, located on the Product Pages
- What if the products are added to an almost empty tank?
- This is no problem at all, however for maximum benefits the tank should be topped up shortly after the treatment.
- Why should I put 'Delphi Diesel +' in my engine?
- Different countries have different diesel fuel specifications. Different refineries also make different fuels. The modern refinery of today, for economic reasons, has a good capability to convert heavy refinery streams to lighter products. Diesel fuels from these processes have a higher tendency to form deposits in the injectors. As a result, additives to control the formation of these deposits are becoming more and more important.
In addition, 'Delphi Diesel +' provides additional deposit protection in a wide range of engines.
- Will I damage my engine if I add too much Delphi Diesel + ?
- Extensive no harm testing has been conducted on this product, including no harm for "overdose" situations, however we strongly recommend that you avoid potential for damage by adding the recommended dosage only. The products are all highly concentrated and are designed for optimum performance when treated in a full tank of fuel.
- Is 'Delphi Diesel +' suitable for turbo charged vehicles ?
- Yes, 'Delphi Diesel +' is suitable for all vehicles whether turbo charged or not.
- What possible problems are there associated with low sulphur diesel?
- There are certainly a number of problems arising with the widespread use of Low Sulphur Diesel. The process of removing sulphur from diesel fuel has resulted in the removal of much of the lubricity of the fuel. As most diesel injection equipment is lubricated by the fuel, its lubricating properties are needed to prevent wear or damage to pumps and injectors. 'Delphi Diesel +' contains lubricity agents to overcome this problem and help to eliminate premature pump failure and expensive replacement due to lack of lubrication in the fuel.
- Is there a biocide in the bottle?
- No, biocides can be dangerous. They rapidly kill all bacteria, which then loosen and clog filters. However, the demulsifier provides protection against bacterial growth by separating the water from the fuel.
Bacteria grow in water/fuel emulsions.
- Are there metal based smoke reducers in the packages?
- No, they have not proven to be able to actively reduce smoke in our extensive testing. Our product works as a smoke reducer by the effective cleaning of deposits in the fuel system and injectors, also after the treatment. Some metals may reduce smoke temporarily, but most cause deposits and may damage the catalyst. They should not be used as fuel additives.
- There are many brands of diesel fuel additives available in the market. Why should I buy Delphi Diesel +
- 'Delphi Diesel +' has been developed in conjunction with Chevron Corporation using the latest Texaco fuel technology. 'Delphi Diesel +' is formulated from the best and most modern detergent additives (additives to control deposits at the injectors). In addition to the detergency capability, it also contains other components to improve other important aspects of the diesel fuels. These include cetane improver, lubricity agent, corrosion inhibitor, stabiliser, demulsifer and anti-foam agent.
- Is Delphi Diesel+ suitable to run in Direct and Indirect Injection engines
- Definitely. 'Delphi Diesel +' is designed to be effective in both DI and IDI engines, whether light, medium or heavy duty. Extensive engine and field test data collected by Chevron Corporation, shows the effectiveness of the product.
- How often should I treat my diesel fuel with 'Delphi Diesel +'
- It is recommended to add 'Delphi Diesel +' to one full tank of the diesel fuel at the minimum interval of every 5000 km or every service interval. However, in severe cases it may be required to treat your diesel fuel with 'Delphi Diesel +' more often.
